Our home was built with an apartment upstairs for our daughter, while she attends university. It’s side door gives her a separate entrance with a gated patio area. The door was painted with Sherwin Williams paint color called Halcyon Green, which is a soft blue-green that looks so nice against the white painted brick. The patio is small but it is perfect for the space that she needed.
Here is a look at what the side patio looked like before construction was completed last August.
After
And here is a look at the patio side entrance after we landscaped and finished out the build.
We planted evergreens and birch trees to enclose the patio and fenced in the area for more privacy. I would like to add some wood shutters, (stained the same color as the wood headers on the front of the house), to the window to add some character and give it a better cottage feel.

Degroot Spire Arborvitae
The evergreens planted along the garage wall are Degroot Spire Arborvitae, which grow narrow and around 15-20 ft high that should fill in the space in the wall nicely when mature.
It’s become a more welcoming entrance with landscaping, furniture and potted topiaries. Eventually, I would like to build a pergola on the backside of the patio with some jasmine vine growing to enclose the patio, but that’s a project for next Spring or Summer, hopefully.
Thanks for stopping by to see the Patio Gardens.
