Hi! I’m Leasa and welcome to the blog! I’m so happy to have this space to share my obsession of designing spaces. I love a French Country, Cottage and European Farmhouse style design, which we incorporated in the design and decor of our new home we built. I am without a doubt addicted to Pinterest. I am you’re classic DIY’er, willing to try anything, even if I have never done it before. Over the years, I have been involved in many smaller projects such as building and designing a 10 x 10 playhouse for my kids, my dining room table, and countless furniture build and refurbish projects. Many years ago I ambitiously and maybe naively remodeled a 100 year old house and my passion for design was born. But perhaps the most fun, largest and most recent build project was designing our new home, the “European Farmhouse”, which you will see featured on this blog. We have learned so much from our DIY, home design and build projects.
I have worn various hats in my lifetime from journalist, computer/ software instructor, real estate agent, home renovator and children’s party business owner, which has given me various skills that all contribute to writing this blog. I started Maison Designs Home blog in October 2014, where I renovated our outdated home and refinished furniture, documenting various DIY projects. After building our new home, I really got to hone in on my interior design skills and develop a house that is exclusively my style. I feel very fortunate to have found the world of blogging and to share everything I’ve learned over the years with you!
In my personal life, my family are the absolute joy and dedication of my life!
My hobbies outside of family are decorating, writing, photography, reading and gardening! My happy place is cuddled up at home with my family and a good mystery novel. I have to have my coffee in the morning to get me going, as I’m not much of a morning person, but rather a night owl at heart. I dream up my best designs and problem solve before drifting off to sleep.
I believe in working hard and dreaming big! I hope through this blog, I can help others find their design style, decorate their home, share some creative DIY projects, recipes and offer some good advice about refinishing furniture and designing on any budget. I believe that giving furniture a fresh new look can be an earth-friendly and budget-friendly option for making your home beautiful. I love a mix of new and vintage decor with a little whimsical design thrown in to the mix!
